Sierra Nevada Natural and National Park
The natural environment of the Sierra Nevada, which comprises the National and Natural Park of the same name, impresses visitors with its long mountain range with a small relief and the highest peak in the Iberian Peninsula, Mulhacén, at 3,479 metres. It is part of the Penibética mountain range and stretches from the south east of Granada to the western end of Almería. Due to its highly varied landscape and unique natural assets, it has been granted several protected statuses. In addition to being a Natural Park and National Park, it is internationally recognised as a Biosphere Reserve.
